Foxconn: a manufacturing unit

Anish Rahman,
Director - Sales & Marketing,
Foxconn
Name any big IT consumer brand and at its very heart lies the brand Foxconn, for without it one would not have had access to many of the handheld devices that one flaunts with great elan. Being an OEM-driven company, the list of brands for Foxconn goes endless – Apple, Sony, Nokia, Dell, HP, Sony, etc. With an annual revenue of 117 billion dollars, they are the largest manufacturers of Tablets, Motherboards and PC enclosures by volume. But being the largest hardware manufacturing company, it could not help them from being mired in numerous challenges. Nevertheless, like any other growing brand, Foxconn has started coming out from behind the curtain and carved a niche for its brand.
As a matter of fact, Foxconn earns above 90% of its revenue from its OEM production.
Unique Quotient
With respect to the Indian market, in order to be successful, the brand owner needs to address effective branding of the company and a healthy bottom line at the same time. It all lies on the total “affordability / value for money”, “quality of product and service”, “reliability” and “total user experience”.  If these, taken together, form the crust of a company’s overall branding exercise, Foxconn has strived to incorporate a very unique approach for itself before its customers. Quality and reliability as a product and as a vendor, highly professional design, R&D and manufacturing, long-term partnership-oriented approach and high global footprint among component vendors is what set Foxconn apart.
Competitive Advantage
The size and power of their organization is what they consider their competitive edge. These help to convert any potentiality to investment and market leadership. Global footprint and being aggressively action oriented also serve as the key for where they are today.
Feats Fetched
Foxconn has its “Army” rule in maintaining its QDCST which stands for Quality, Delivery, Cost, Service and Technology. In addition to this, the right mix of partnerships loyalty, long-term vision and strategy are their key success factors.
