RFID is a form of wireless communication that incorporates the use of electro-magnetic or electrostatic coupling in the radio-frequency portion of the electromagnetic spectrum to uniquely identify an object or a person. "Kumbh is the biggest believers crowd in which over 12 crore people are expected to take part over the next 50 days. With a view to ensuring that children do not get lost, we will be using RFID tags on children under 14 years attending the Kumbh," state Director General of Police (DGP) OP Singh told to a report on Monday. Joining some other prominent app development companies, video streaming service Netflix is no longer allowing new or resubscribing members to sign up for a Netflix subscription using an in-app purchase via the App Store. You can no longer renew your Netflix subscription from your iPhone or iPad. While the change was spotted earlier in November, Netflix delved deep into the move in a VentureBeat article on Friday. The report explained users who are already paying via iTunes may continue to do so. However, users renewing after a month or new sign ups will have to bill their purchase in the Netflix website and then login into the iOS app. Netflix is not the only streaming service to do so. Presumably done against Apple’s move to take a larger revenue share from in-app purchases, streaming apps like Spotify and Soundcloud had to charge extra for iOS users. Railways parking, catering contracts go with an e-tendering process
The Indian railways, in a major policy shift, bidding for parking, catering and parcel leasing, worth about Rs 3,000 crore a year has decided to do away with paper-based traditional tendering methods and will be assigned through an e-tendering process. Besides, the contracts for getting space at rail premises for ATMs, advertisements and other publicity-related matters will also go online to bring about transparency and thus making deadlock for unethical elements in the tendering process. "There were complaints against the prevailing bidding system as the scope of formation of cartels and illegal interference in the bidding procedure to bag parking, catering and other contracts was always there," a senior Railway Ministry official told to media.
